Forest Fungi Nameko mushroom are an absolute must for miso and soup enthusiasts. Amazing to watch grow and delicious to eat in soups.

 

DESCRIPTION: These mushrooms get a gelatinous slime on the caps, if kept in humid conditions. The caps are golden brown, the stems often have orange markings on them. Usually form clusters, although individual fruits are not uncommon.

 

 GROWTH SPECIFICATIONS

 Broad growth parameters: This species likes cool conditions for fruiting, even enjoying a snow covering.

High yield growth parameters:

Spawn run on grain: 20 – 26 º C Fruiting: 10 – 18 º C

High humidity

 

 

 

Favourite recipe: Definitely Japanese style soup, the texture is perfect. This mushroom is amazing with its firm, slightly crunchy texture which remains throughout cooking. The slightly nutty flavour and natural occurring gelatinous coating slightly thickens soups and is amazing in any soup – my favourite is clear broth chicken and mushroom soup or miso.
