Nameko Culture on Agar

$30.00

Pholiota nameko

1 petri dish of Nameko mushroom culture for $30 OR

4 petri dishes for $50.

The Nameko mushroom is a small, amber-brown mushroom with a slightly gelatinous coating that is commonly used in Japan as an ingredient in miso soup. The gelatinous coating that forms on the top of the mushroom cluster is how it got it's name of "Nameko" which literally translates to “slimy mushroom” in Japanese.

We predominately grow the Nameko mushroom through bag cultivation. It is widely noted as one of the harder mushrooms to grow, requiring a high humidity and temperature control. Whether it is by luck or skill, Forest Fungi has been fruiting this mushroom with no controlled conditions outdoors.

Please note: Forest Fungi make agar fresh to order to increase vigour and viability. It takes around 1 - 3 weeks to inoculate and will be shipped as soon as possible.
